Lucknow: In the wake of their misbehavior with people standing in queue at a Barabanki bank, a UP police constable was suspended and outpost incharge transferred on Wednesday.

Constable Ajay Kumar Singh has been suspended and police outpost incharge Arvind Kumar Sharma has been sent to lines for allegedly misbehaving with people standing in queue of a bank in Barabanki on Tuesday, official sources said in Lucknow.

The incident took place when one Dharmendra Kumar Bahelia and others were standing in the line at a bank in Tikaitganj locality in Kursi area of Barabanki. They were allegedly misbehaved by the police.

The inquiry of the incident was handed over to the Barabanki Additional Superintendent of Police.

In a similar incident of November 21, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday suspended Fatehpur SP Ram Kishore and Kishunpur SHO Sanjay Kumar Yadav.

The action was taken after video of a policeman lathicharging the people standing in queue at a bank in Kishnupur area of Fatehpur went viral on social media and was aired on local news channels.

The chief minister said that the work of police is to "help people, who are already troubled due to demonetization and lathicharging them is not good".

He also instructed top officials today to deal sympathetically with those standing in queues trying to withdraw money or exchange notes.
