Lucknow:
A trooper of the Central Reserve Police Force shot and injured himself on Tuesday in Uttar Pradesh, police said.
Anuj Kumar, 30, shot himself at Chandauli, 350 km from Lucknow. He was admitted to a hospital in Varanasi where his condition was said to be serious.
Superintendent of Police Krishna Mohan told IANS that Anuj Kumar shot himself in the temple with his rifle late in the evening.
The trooper was earlier posted in a Maoist-hit area.
"Once he regains consciousness we will talk to him, only then will be able to know why such a thing happened," said Mr Kumar.
