Lucknow: Eight people were killed and three injured after a truck rammed into a jeep in Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, police said.
The accident occurred near a petrol pump on the Jaunpur-Lucknow highway, 200 km from Lucknow.
Police said the truck driver lost control of the vehicle after a tyre burst and rammed into a jeep full of passengers.
Seven people were killed on the spot while one died on way to the hospital. The injured, two of whom are critical, have been admitted to a nearby medical facility.
The driver and cleaner fled from the spot after the accident.
