Lucknow: Four people, including a child, were mowed down on Monday night by a truck in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district, police said.
The accident happened in the Civil Lines area in Muzaffarnagar, 500 km from Lucknow, when the speeding truck lost control and hit a car. It then sped away, only to run over five people on the Jansath bridge.
Police said four people, including a couple, a child and another youngster, were killed on the spot, while another injured woman is admitted at a medical facility in a critical condition.
The truck driver was arrested after a long chase, a police official told IANS.
