Four hurt in clashes in Lucknow

Lucknow: Four people were injured on Friday when two sects of Muslims clashed in the Old City area of the Uttar Pradesh capital, police said.

A verbal spat between youngsters from the two groups led to stone pelting, forcing police to use batons to disperse the rioters.

The incident took place when a religious procession was going through the Kanghi Waali Gali in Chowk area, towards the Puttan Saheb ka Karbala.

Some miscreants fired gun shots in the air.

All shops downed their shutters in the area. A large number of police and paramilitary personnel were rushed to prevent the trouble from spreading.
