Illegal immigration racket busted

Lucknow: Three members of a gang allegedly involved in illegal immigration and human trafficking were arrested in Lucknow by the Special Task Force of Uttar Pradesh police.

Virendra Pandey, Gulzar Ahmad and Mohd Akleem were arrested by the STF from Aishbagh and passports, visa and other documents related to immigration were recovered from their possession.

From past few days information was being received that some persons were operating an illegal immigration racket by forging passports and visas, sources said. "Acting on a tip off, the STF team arrested the trio," they said.

During interrogation the accused reve aled that Virendra, who was the gang leader and arrested by the ATS in April last year, used to prepare fake medical certificate required for visa clearance.

The gang charged hefty sum from the people willing to go abroad, police said.

Police said that 31 passports, 57 photocopies of passports, police clearance reports, medical certificates besides, other documents were recovered from the possession of
the trio.
