Lucknow:
A man was arrested on Thursday and over 600 tortoises recovered from his possession at Charbagh railway station in Lucknow, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, the accused Harjit Singh was arrested along with 612 tortoises while he was trying to board a train, they said.
Further investigation are on into the case.
Possession of tortoises is prohibited under the Wildlife Act.
