Lucknow: A young woman managed to escape an acid attack by a 50-year-old man who pressured her for marriage, police said today.
Vishnu Narain Shivpuri, a resident of paper mill colony, threw acid on the 24-year-old victim, a native of Dehradun, yesterday in Mahanagar area after she refused his marriage proposal.
The victim did not sustain any injury in the incident as she had moved aside to protect herself, police said.
She told the police that the accused was a friend of her late father and had been putting pressure on her to marry him.
