A minor girl was allegedly killed by a youth for resisting rape in Uttar Pradesh's Allahabad district, police said on Saturday. The youth has been arrested.
12-year-old Zohra (name changed), a native of Nidura locality, was killed by her neighbour Raju, 22, on Thursday. Her body was recovered on Friday from the house of the accused.
"We became suspicious about Raju when investigations pointed out that Zohra was last seen at his shop," Police Inspector Prakash Singh told reporters in Allahabad, some 200 km from here.
Raju abducted Zohra when she visited his grocery store for purchasing some items.
Raju took her to his house and tried to rape her. When Zohra tried to raise an alarm, he assaulted her with a brick.
Raju buried the victim's body inside his house.
