Lucknow:
A nursery class student in a posh school in Lucknow was raped on the premises after allegedly being lured by a woman staffer with toffees, police said on Sunday.
The crime came to notice when the girl, a student of the school in the cantonment area, complained of pain while urinating, police said, citing her parents.
On her return home on the school bus on Saturday, the girl told her mother that she was having trouble while urinating but the mother assumed it was due to humidity and hot weather, Circle Officer (CO) Cantt Babita Singh told IANS.
When the girl persistently complained of pain, the mother checked the girl's genital area and discovered injuries. She informed her husband, an army officer, who took the girl to the command hospital, where rape was confirmed. The parents then filed a complaint with the Cantt police station.
The girl told the police that an 'auntie' (woman staff) gave her toffees and another man took her to the school basement. She was apparently sexually assaulted there, police said. While the police grilled more than a dozen staff members of the school, there was no headway in the case.
"The girl so far has not been able to identify any one but we will do an identification parade again on Monday. The matter is very serious and a heinous crime. We will get to the bottom of the whole issue and arrest the culprit," Mr Singh said.
