Policeman held for throwing acid on woman

Lucknow: A police sub-inspector was today arrested on charges of throwing acid on a constable's wife over a dispute in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad district.
     
The incident occurred when sub-inspector R B N Singh Gangwar of Bhojpur police station, who had a financial dispute with constable Trilok Chandra, went to his place to sort out the issue and entered into an argument with him, Additional Director General (Law and Order) Brij Lal said.
    
The heated exchange of words between the two enraged Gangwar who threw acid on Joshi's wife Laxmi Devi, causing burn injuries to her, he said, adding that she has been admitted to the district hospital with 45 per cent burns.
    
Based on a complaint lodged by Joshi, the police have arrested Gangwar.
