Lucknow:
A retired couple was stabbed to death in Lucknow's posh Gomti Nagar area last night.
Lata Mehra, a retired enforcement official, and her husband A Mehra, a retired cashier with a bank, were found lying in a pool of blood inside their house, according to the police. They had allegedly been stabbed multiple times with a kitchen knife.
Mr Mehra was stabbed 18 times, while his wife had 28 wounds on her body, according to a police official.
The neighbours discovered the dead bodies after they were informed by the couple's daughter, who lives in Delhi, that her parents were not responding to calls and text messages.
According to the police, the couple was last seen taking their regular walk with their pet dog at around 9 pm on Sunday. They pet was found locked in a room of the house by the cops.
Police say they suspect that robbery was the motive for the double murder.
