Lucknow: Seven people were on Thursday declared missing after the boat they were in capsized on Yamuna river in Uttar Pradesh's Kaushambi district, police said.
The boat was carrying 15 people when the incident happened in the Sarai Akil area in the district, 217 km from Lucknow.
Eight people managed to swim to safety, Inspector General of Police, Law and Order, R.K. Vishwakarma said, adding that divers were looking for the missing seven but with no success so far.
All the missing persons belonged to Pratappur village in Allahabad district and were crossing the river to go to Kaushambi when the incident took place.
