Lucknow:
Three engineering students of a private college were on Wednesday booked for brutally assaulting one of their batchmates, who is being treated at a hospital, police said.
Saurabh Mishra, Prashant Singh and Deepak Tiwari, all second-year students of Goel Institute of Technology and Management (GITM) on Wednesday assaulted Abhinav Tiwari outside the college campus.
"Preliminary investigations indicate the case is related to a fight for supremacy. All the three accused, named in the First Information Report (FIR) lodged by Abhinav's family, are absconding," police Inspector Prakash Singh told reporters.
Meanwhile, GITM chairperson Mahesh Goel said that the three students have been suspended with immediate effect.
"We have also initiated an enquiry against the students. Further action will be taken on completion of the enquiry," he added.
Abhinav's condition is stated to be critical, police said.
