A former health department employee has been arrested in a suspected case of filicide, after his 28-year-old daughter died today at a hospital, where she was admitted with gunshot wounds, police said.
Martina Gupta, an MBA graduate, was rushed to the Trauma centre of the hospital this morning with multiple bullet injuries, but she died six hours later during the treatment, police said.
They said that role of the woman's family members was "dubious" in the case, as they did not inform the police about the incident.
"We were suspecting the role of her family members. Her father Rakesh Gupta has been arrested in the case. Further probe is on and a licenced weapon of Gupta has been sent for forensic examination," Deepak Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police, said.
Rakesh Gupta was an employee of the health department and had retired under the voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) in 2015.
