Ludhiana:
An Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) was on Tuesday allegedly caught red-handed by a team of the Vigilance Bureau while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a woman at his official residence in police colony in Ludhiana.
Balwinder Singh was nabbed while accepting the first instalment of the bribe, which was settled to the tune of rupees two lakhs, from Bhupinder Kaur, SSP (VB) Satinder Singh said.
A case under various sections of the IPC, including that of fraud and conspiracy had been registered against her, he said, adding that the ASI had assured her that if she paid, her name would be dropped from the First Information Report.
