Meerut: Former Uttar Pradesh minister and BSP leader Haji Yaqub Qureshi's son and his three friends were booked after they allegedly created ruckus and had a scuffle with policemen who intercepted them when their car hit a motorcycle, police said today.
Police said that a medical examination had confirmed that Feroz Qureshi and his friends -- Kamil, Majhar and Arif Sardhana -- were in an inebriated state.
They had hit the bike with their car at zero mile last night following which they were stopped and questioned, they said.
"When the police started questioning them, Feroz and his friends had a scuffle with them. More policemen from the nearby police station quickly reached the spot and all four were arrested," said a police spokesperson.
The accused were sent for medical examination which verified that they were in an inebriated state at the time of accident, he said.
"We have filed a case against Feroz and the other three under relevant sections of the IPC. They have been given bail after they signed personal bonds," police said.
Mr Feroz's father, former legislator Haji Yaqub, refused to comment on the incident.
