Meerut: An ISI agent, involved in a fake currency racket, was arrested on Sunday here by a joint team of Uttar Pradesh STF and the district police.
"The ISI agent has been identified as Manjur Miya alias Manjur Alam alias Manjur Ansari. Manjur is a resident of Nepal's Parsa district," DIG Prem Prakash said.
"During interrogation, Manjur revealed that he was working for ISI officer Mohammad Safi. Manjur used to receive fake currency notes from Sajid Ansari in Nepal's Birganj area," the DIG said.
Fake one-hundred-rupee notes with a face value of Rs 25,000, a mobile phone and some other articles were also seized from the arrested, the officer said.
