Meerut: A man, who was arrested in a loot case, on Tuesday escaped from the police custody after he was produced in the district court in Meerut prompting the authorities to suspend seven police personnel.
Kapil, who was arrested in connection with a recent loot case, on Tuesday escaped from a cell in the court premises after the hearing, district police spokesperson said.
Over 12 cases of murder and loot are pending against Kapil in various police stations of the district, he said.
After the accused escaped, a case of negligence was registered against the seven police personnel, including a woman constable, who were then suspended, the spokesperson said.
Special teams have been formed to nab the accused, he added.
