Man dies on way to hospital, family blames police

Meerut: Family members of an 80-year-old advocate on Tuesday alleged he died after he could not be rushed to hospital in time due to heavy barricading of the area by police in view of Samajwadi Party's ongoing agitation.

Advocate Charan Singh Sarang, an asthma patient, died on Monday as he could not reach the hospital in time due to heavy barricading, his son Devendra said.

The police stopped the car, in which the lawyer was being taken to the hospital, near the Sports Stadium in Civil Lines area in view of an SP's rally, he alleged.
