Meerut, Uttar Pradesh: Uttar Pradesh Police on Monday claimed to have busted an illegal arms racket in Meerut with the arrest of one of its members during a raid in the city.
They also recovered two 315-bore revolvers, five 12-bore and 315-bore guns, and ammunition among other things used in making arms, from the spot.
SP City Om Prakash said that acting on a tip-off TP Nagar Police team raided a factory in Maliyana forest near Meerut and arrested one Shabbir, resident of Pithlaukar under Sardhana police station.
The arrested accused revealed that he along with his accomplice used to produce these arms in the forest, police said, adding a manhunt has been launched to arrest the absconding accomplice.
