Policeman killed in accidental firing

Modinagar: A police constable posted with the central excise department in Meerut was killed when his service rifle went off accidentally in Modinagar area, police said.

The service rifle of 25-year-old Vijay Raj, who was visiting his house in Yakutpur Mavi village, went off and a bullet hit him on the chest, leading to his death on the spot last night, they said.

A case has been registered and further probes into the incident are on, police added.
