Meerut:
Sudhir Mahajan, the director of the leading cricket bats and sports gear makers BDM, was kidnapped on Tuesday night in Meerut, 60 km from the national capital. According to the police, Mr Mahajan was kidnapped when he was returning home from work in his car.
The police said that the kidnappers demanded a ransom of Rs 2 crore from the family through text messages and phone calls. "The family received a call from Mr Mahajan's mobile asking them for the amount," said K Satya Narayan, SSP, Meerut.
Mr Narayan also said that the role of the driver is suspected.
The police said that Mr Mahajan's vehicle was found abandoned in Mawana. They have set up special team to rescue Mr Mahajan.
