Meerut:
A 28-year-old woman was allegedly shot dead when she resisted a robbery attempt by some motorcycle-borne assailants in the district, police said today.
The victim, Uma, a resident of Bhola in the district, was returning from her parents' home in neighbouring Muzaffarnagar district yesterday when she was waylaid by some motorcycle-borne miscreants who tried to rob her, said officials.
When she resisted their robbery attempt, they shot her and decamped with her ornaments, they said.
The victim succumbed to her injuries while being taken to a nearby hospital, they said, adding that they are probing into the incident.
