12-yr-old boy dies after falling from Mumbai terrace
Mumbai: A 12-year-old boy died in a fall from the terrace of the B-wing of Prabhat Complex near Jyoti Hotel in Malad (East) on Sunday night after leaving home to play with friends.

The victim, Adarsh Rathod, lived in the D-wing of the same society and informed his mother Bhavna Rathod after dinner at 7.30 pm that he was going out to play cricket. His motionless body was discovered at the base of the building at 9.30 pm by other residents of the society and they rushed him to Sanjeevani Hospital and then to Bhagwati Hospital, where he was declared dead before admission.

Bhavna told the police in her statement that her son had gone out to play after having dinner around 7.30 pm and neighbours informed her that he had fallen off the terrace of the B-wing two hours later.

The door to the terrace on the seventh floor was open as some construction work was going on. Also, the boundary wall of the terrace is a mere two foot high. The police initially registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR), but are investigating whether any foul play is involved.

Subhash Dafle, senior police inspector with the Kurar police station, said, "He was alone on the terrace at the time and society members admitted him to hospital, but he was declared dead."

Balkrishna Varadkar, secretary of the society, said that they heard that Adarsh had fallen from the terrace of the B-wing. The victim was a Std IX student in St Francis High School.
