Mumbai: A 16-year-old girl was allegedly stabbed by four youths, including her jilted lover, at Virar near Mumbai when she was going to school on Monday morning.
The incident took place around 7 am just outside her building in Virar East. The girl was admitted to a local hospital where she was stated to be out of danger.
"Around ten days back, one of the accused had proposed the girl, though she had rejected his proposal. Recently, the accused once again approached her and threatened to kill her father if she did not accept his love proposal," police said.
Enraged over this, the girl slapped the youth following which a crowd gathered at the spot and beat him up in which he received injuries on his head.
"The girl then told her father about what happened. Her family approached the police and lodged a complaint, though the police did not register an FIR in this connection," police said.
A complaint lodged against him infuriated the accused, who decided to take revenge. With the help of his three friends, he decided to execute the plan. Accordingly, they spotted the girl this morning and stabbed her before fleeing from the spot, police said.
A case has been registered against the four youths under relevant sections of the IPC.
