19-year-old falls off Mumbai train, critically injured

Mumbai: Nineteen-year-old Prakash Kadam, a resident of Mulund, was seriously injured on Monday after he fell from a Dombivli bound local train between Mulund and Thane railway stations.

He was standing on the foot board when he suddenly lost grip of the iron rod handle and fell.

Prakash who has been admitted to Jupiter Hospital in Thane suffered severe brain injuries and a bone below his eyes has been fractured.

"Prakash was on his way to work when the incident took place. He said the train was too crowded because of which the accident happened," said Chakradhar, Prakash's father.

Chakradhar, who is now worried about arranging finance for his son's operation said, "We had admitted him to MT Agarwal Hospital, but the doctors advised shifting him to Jupiter Hospital for better treatment. The estimated cost of operation is over Rs1.5 lakh, which is our major concern now. I also have my daughter's wedding scheduled for next week."
