1993 Mumbai blasts case: Sanjay Dutt surrenders in Mumbai's special TADA court

Actor Sanjay Dutt, convicted in the 1993 Bombay blasts case, has surrendered in the special TADA court. He will now be sent to a jail to serve 42 months after being convicted in a 1993 Mumbai blasts case.

Judge told Sanjay Dutt:  I have allowed you everything except e cigarettes. You should give up smoking. Sanjay Dutt nodded and smiled. He was in the witness box.

When Sanjay Dutt entered the court he said was heckled by the media. The judge told him to sit down and relax.

Sanjay Dutt to get home-cooked food in jail
The court rejected Mr Dutt's request to be allowed to smoke electronic cigarettes in prison. He had also asked for permission to meet his family and to be allowed to move around freely in jail. The court has not yet decided on those requests.

Sanjay Dutt has made certain requests to the court. He has asked for permission for home made to be delivered to him.  He wants permission to smoke electronic cigarettes because he's a chain smoker.  Also wants permission to meet family and lawyers often. Thin mattress and pillow for his Arteosclerosis and also medicines.

After 20 minutes, Sanjay Dutt and his sister Priya Dutt and wife Manyata have finally managed to get out of the car and have entered the court premises. The completion of procedures is likely to take more than an hour

There are at least 100 cameramen and reporters present outside the court making it impossible for Mr Dutt to come out. Mahesh Bhatt, a family friend accompanying the Dutts is seen pleading with the media to back off.
