2 lakh guests to grace Gadkari son's wedding

Mumbai: At least two lakh guests will grace the wedding of BJP chief Nitin Gadkari's son Nikhil in Nagpur on Thursday.

Chief ministers of BJP-ruled states, top leaders of all political parties, including the Congress, Bollywood stars, more than 300 MPs and MLAs, eminent industrialists and dignitaries from across the nation, party workers, and top RSS functionaries, including the Sarsanghachalak, are among the invitees. An invite has also been sent to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, sources said.

Nikhil is marrying Rutuja Pathak, also from Nagpur.

After a reception for dignitaries on December 3, the family will hold a bash for party workers, office bearers, and commoners on December 4. At least 20 chartered flights will bring VVIPs to Nagpur for the reception, sources at the air traffic control at Nagpur aerodrome said.

The wedding poses a security challenge to Nagpur police, since the winter session of the state legislature begins there on December 1. A three-tier cordon comprising over 9,000 policemen and 1,200 officers would guard the city.

There is also a threat perception about a possible Naxal attack, commissioner of police Ankush Dhanvijay had told a press conference on November 26.
