To commemorate the third anniversary of the Mumbai attacks on 26/11, Jamnabai Narsee School, Juhu has invited a commando involved in the 26/11 anti-terror operations and teach students how to deal with emergencies.
The event 'Dare to Care' to be held on November 17 will allow students from Standard X, XI, XII to have a discussion with Zane Wilmans, one of the South African commandos who helped save 150 lives during the attack at Taj hotel. The 26/11 hero will share his experience about the day and will also provide the students with helpful tips on surviving a natural calamity.
Sudeshna Chatterji, principal of Jamnabai Narsee School, said, "Understanding the importance of safety management, we have organised this event during which students can interact with Wilmans about safety measures. Through this event, we are encouraging our students to build empathy. Wilmans has agreed to speak about disaster management and threat assessment. We are going to have around 525 students present for the event."
The principal added that the event will enable students to live a life of increased awareness and have a better understanding of the world, which is of utmost priority in these troubled times.
And the students of the school are quite excited about the event.
Anuja Vaz, a Std XII student, said, "I am quite eager to attend this event. The speaker is going to talk to us about safety and survival. I feel I will be able to learn a lot and will help in dealing with crisis."
Echoing the same enthusiasm, Aeshna Prasad, another Std XII student, added, "Around six students are going to ask the questions. Through the event, we will be able to understand human relationships better and also be ready in times of emergencies. The event is going to make every student realise their responsibility of being a citizen of India."
Who is Zane Wilmans?Zane Wilmans, now the director of Protexxx Security Company, was one of the seven South African specialists that helped in saving 150 people from the Taj Hotel on 26/11. He has worked in the Middle East on several assignments and protected several top executives, Hollywood celebrities and sport stars.
