Mumbai: Three employees of Larsen & Toubro have been arrested for negligence after a portion of a bridge coming up near the Mumbai international airport collapsed on Wednesday night, killing three people and injuring six.
The Sahar elevated corridor is being constructed to serve as a link between Western Express Highway and the international airport.
A part of the bridge collapsed around 11.30 pm on Wednesday, trapping several workers. They were rescued by fire brigade officials through the night. The injured were admitted to two hospitals.
The police registered a case of death by negligence and of grievous hurt. But Larsen & Toubro, which is building the bridge, maintained that safety norms had not been compromised. (Read full statement)
