Mumbai: More than 60 people have been admitted to hospital after being bitten by marine creatures during Ganpati immersion in Mumbai. Doctors suspect that they have been bitten by stingrays.
Those who have been admitted to hospital complained of severe pain after the immersion of Ganpati idols at Girgaum Chowpatty. While no one is seriously injured, they are being kept under medical supervision.
Majority of the victims have been taken to government-run Nair Hospital. The rest have been taken to the GT hospital and JJ Hospital in south Mumbai.
Tuesday was the first day of immersion of the Ganpati idols.
