Mumbai:
A senior citizen fell to his death from the sixteenth floor of a building at Dadar Chowpatty near Kirti College yesterday. Manohar Dhansukh Shah (75) allegedly went to his balcony to get a breath of fresh air, when he slipped and fell.
According to the police, they received a call from an official working at Hinduja hospital informing them that a person was brought to the hospital in a critical condition. "We immediately rushed to the hospital, where we learnt that the person had died. The man was identified to be a resident of Rameshwaram Towers," said Sunil Jadhav, sub-inspector at Dadar police station.
The police then established contact with the family. The deceased person's son Uday, informed the police that his father had gone to the balcony to get some fresh air and lost his balance and fell off. "Manohar fell from the 16th floor, directly on the second floor and suffered several injuries to his head and fractured both his legs. The watchman of the building heard the noise and immediately informed the family," said Jadhav. The driver and watchman of the building escorted Manohar to the hospital.
"Our initial investigations do not suggest foul play, but we are looking into the case. The family is in a state of shock," said Jadhav. The police have registered a case of accidental death.
Manohar is survived by wife Laxmi (74), daughter Raksha and son Uday (36), who is a prominent builder in the city.
