Mumbai:
The city airport remained shut for operations for around half an hour last evening due to heavy rains and poor visibility, resulting in diversion of 8 flights.
"The runway operations remained closed between 7.55 pm and 8.30 pm due to strong tailwinds and poor visibility. There were no operations on the two runways during this time," a Mumbai International Airport Ltd spokesperson said.
Eight flights were diverted to nearby airports during the runway closure time, a Mumbai airport official said.
The operations, however, resumed at 8.35 pm, the spokesperson of a Mumbai International Airport Limited or MIAL said without divulging the flight details.
