Mumbai: A struggling actress was found dead in her apartment in Mumbai's Andheri suburb yesterday. Kritika Choudhury's decomposing body was discovered after neighbours complained of a stench from her home.
The 27-year-old, who had a bit part in the 2013 Kangana Ranaut starrer "Rajjo", seemed to have been dead for three or four days, the police said.
She was from Haridwar and had been working in Television.
A neighbor, Abhimanyu Poojari, said he had last seen her six days ago when she was on her way home. "She used to come here often to pray at the Sai temple," said Ms Poojari.
The police broke open her door, which was bolted from inside, around 3.45 pm yesterday. Neighbours had also reported that she hadn't been seen leaving her home for days.
"Primarily an accidental death report is registered and an investigation is in progress," said a police officer.
The police say they are waiting for a post mortem report to establish how she died. Footage has been taken from three CCTV cameras that have a view of Ms Choudhury's apartment. One of the cameras faced the gates of the apartment complex.
"We are now questioning the people she knew as part of our investigation," said police officer Arun Chavan, adding, "Her door was locked from inside, this makes the circumstances doubtful."
