Mumbai: A man from Ghana was arrested at Mumbai international airport today for allegedly trying to smuggle in one kg of cocaine drugs in the form of capsules after swallowing them, a customs official said.
The accused, identified as Mamudu Mubarak, was intercepted at Chhatrapati Shivaji International airport today. He arrived on a flight EK-504 on from Brazil via Dubai.
After detaining the accused, an X-ray scan was carried out on him, which found 76 capsules in his stomach containing 1 kg of cocaine valued at Rs 5 crore.
He was arrested and booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) Act.
