Mumbai: The tyre of an Air India plane, carrying over 150 passengers on board, burst while taxiing after it landed at the Mumbai airport late on Wednesday evening.
The incident occurred around 10 pm when the Flight AI630 was taxiing after arriving from Nagpur. The Airbus-A320 was taken to a taxiway where passengers were evacuated with the help of emergency chutes, an airline spokesperson said.
Some passengers reportedly suffered minor injuries while they were being evacuated through the emergency chute.
"During landing, the plane's tyre burst... fire gradually came towards the window. There was a lot of panic... But everybody came out safe," said a passenger.
Flight operations from the main runway at the airport, which were were briefly shut after the incident, have resumed.
