Mumbai:
Barely two weeks after a fire broke out at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, another one erupted on Friday evening, this time in the disaster management office.
Fire brigade officials complained that they had difficulties in negotiating their vehicles to the spot as there were a lot of barricades and structures hindering the operation. Surprisingly, fire officials said the divisional manager asked them to vacate the premise as soon as possible after the fire had been extinguished. "We were asked to speed up the operation and remove our three vehicles by the manager," a fire officer told the media.
Fire officials said the primary cause of the fire that started at 6:15pm was a short circuit in the AC and the fire grew with the wind, and carpets and furniture was also gutted, leading to thick smoke. It was extinguished at 6:35pm. A CR press statement described it as a "very small local incident".
