Mumbai: Officials from the Kalachowki unit of the Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) have seized 47 kg of Kashmiri hashish brought to the city and arrested two people. The prime accused, who worked as a taxi driver till two years ago, got into the drug supply business and is suspected to have brought about 1,000 kg of the contraband during 24 visits in this period.
Acting on a tip off, the ATS laid a trap near the Reay Road bridge on November 23 and arrested two people including the supplier and the person who received the delivery.
Airaf Mohammed Sayeed Koradia, 24, got the contraband in a Qualis with Jammu & Kashmir registration and was going to deliver a part of it to Hyder Khan Adbul Lateef Khan, 51. When ATS officials raided the spot, they found 10 kg of hashish with Khan, 10 kg with Koradia while the rest 27 kg was concealed in cavities in the SUV.
ATS chief, Rakesh Maria said, "Koradia came in touch with two J&K residents named Moinuddin and Shafiq who used his taxi when they came to the city. They had asked Koradia to join them in this business four years ago but it was only after two years that Koradia contacted them and agreed to carry out drug supply in Mumbai".
He added, "Koradia went to Delhi to get the contraband and Moinuddin and Shafiq gave him the delivery there after which he drove back to Mumbai. He supplied the drug to various dealers at Dongri, Antop Hill, Deonar in the city and at Surendra Nagar and Surat in Gujarat".
Also during investigation, ATS officials came to know that Moinuddin and Shafiq worked for a person named Pappu who is said to be a major drug trafficker operating from J&K. ATS officials have contacted the J&K police and informed them about Moinuddin, Shafiq and Pappu.
