Mumbai: The body of 14-year-old Saddam Mohammad Sheikh was found hanging from a tree close to his house in Bhandup (West) on Monday. Cops say the boy, who is a student of Std VII, is suspected to have committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree.
According to the police, Sheikh was staying with his parents at Khindi Pada, Dargah road, and had left his house to meet his friends at 10 am on Monday. A few hours later, they received a call from a local informing them about a body hanging from a tree with a dupatta tied around his neck.
Although cops have registered a case of accidental death, family members suspect foul play. The deceased's father Mohammad Sheikh said, "My child cannot take such an extreme step. Someone has murdered him, and the police have to take necessary action to find the culprits."
"We have sent Sheikh's body for post-mortem to Rajawadi hospital, and have registered case of accidental death. However, we are taking cognisance of the statements of his family members, and will investigate the death from all angles," said a personnel from Bhandup police.
