Mumbai:
A suspicious object found near the Infinity mall in Andheri is not a bomb, the police have said.
The object, found in a dustbin outside the mall this afternoon, is a device used to create smoke in movies.
"It was a dummy article often used in the films to as a bomb. There are few film production houses in the area and somebody might have thrown the object in the dustbin. It was not an explosive," Deputy Commissioner of Police Pratap Digaokar said.
Mumbai Police and the bomb disposal squad gave an all-clear after a thorough investigation of the mall and its surrounding areas.
"The nearby areas were vacated and people were taken to safer places," Mumbai police spokesperson Nisar Tamboli told PTI.
The mall had been evacuated as it was initially suspected that the object could be a bomb.
