Mumbai:
In CCTV footage from outside a bungalow in Mumbai, a leopard is seen slinking away after being barked at by the dog of the house.
The leopard had been pacing on the porch, apparently looking for a way in.
The video shows the dog sleeping inside the house. The leopard prowls into the frame and spots the dog through a grill, and paws the grill.
This wakes the dog up, which then starts barking, chasing off the bigger animal.
The footage was taken from security cameras at a house in Borivali, which straddles the boundary of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, one of the largest pockets of forest enclosed within a city.
Leopards and other animals often venture out from the forest area to residential areas nearby, especially during the monsoons, in search of food.
Residents claim that they have filed complaints with forest authorities, but little has been done to address the situation.
