Mumbai:
With an aim to spread awareness about the HIV/Aids, various organisations in the city are observing the World Aids Day today. Many camps and rallies will help to spread awareness about the syndrome among the general public.
One such camp is being held at Korum Mall on Wednesday. A quiz contest is being hosted and questions based on Aids awareness will be asked to the shoppers in the mall.
The red ribbons which are considered as the symbol of the contagion will be distributed. Thane collector's office organised a rally on Wednesday. Their aim is to spread awareness about Aids among all sections of the society and reduce the humiliating social stigma attached to it.
This year the World Health Organisation's theme of Aids day is 'Universal Access and Human Rights' which plans to offer the right to a healthy life and access to medical services, especially for prevention.
During the entire week, Thane Municipal Corporation's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj hospital based in Kalwa has also organised several programmes on awareness.
Vivekanand Academy of culture, yoga, ayurveda and nature care has arranged an awareness camp and special exhibition at their centre in Kalwa till December 5 between 5 pm to 8 pm.
Nearly 500 NSS volunteers from seven colleges in Dombivli are organising an awareness rally. Colleges have organised a district level slogan competition.
Some of the selected posters and slogans from the same competition will be displayed in this rally.
Every college of Thane district has a Red Ribbon Club of 20 NSS volunteers to work for HIV/Aids awareness.
This time the principals and programme officers of Dombivli colleges have decided to conduct a rally of college youth in the area. Their motto is to spread awareness about the disease.
