Two officers of Nerul Police Station have been suspended in connection with the case.
Thane:
A 15-year-old boy was beaten to death in Navi Mumbai on Tuesday allegedly by family members of a girl who did not approve of his relationship with her.
The boy, a Class 11 student, was a Dalit. The girl, 17, was from another caste. She has been sent to a remand home after a police case was filed against her too.
The boy's family has told police that the girl's family had been threatening him for the last few days and that 20-25 people thrashed him in front of them on Tuesday night.
"I won't get my brother back. He was just 15 years old. This is all because of caste problems. They hit him in the chest and he stopped breathing," said the 15-year-old's sister.
Police have arrested seven people in connection with the case, including the girl's mother, father, brother and some other relatives.
Two police inspectors were suspended after the boy's family claimed the police refused to register a case despite their repeated requests.
