Mumbai:
Jet Airways' Riyadh to Mumbai flight with 150 passengers onboard made an emergency landing at the Mumbai international airport today after left engine of the aircraft caught fire. The airlines issued a statement shortly after the incident, clarifying what caused the emergency landing.
The statement said: Jet Airways flight 9W 523 RUH/BOM while taxiing was advised by the ATC, to return to base as there was slight visibility of smoke from engine, as also observed by the cockpit crew. As standard operating procedure one engine was shut down, and guests were safely deplaned.
Safety is of paramount importance to Jet Airways and the airline takes every precaution to ensure safety of its guests, crew and property.
The airline regrets any inconvenience caused to its guests.
