Mumbai: One person has died and three others injured in a fire in South Mumbai's Tardeo area.
The fire broke out on the third floor of a residential building at around 8.30 am. A part of the building collapsed due to the fire. However, no one is reported to be trapped in the rubble.
Eight fire engines are at the spot as firemen continue to fight the blaze. Adjacent buildings have been evacuated as a precautionary measure.
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation commissioner Subodh Kumar said the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.
The fire spread as the building had wooden staircase and a cylinder blast because of the fire on the first floor added to the problem, Mr Kumar added.
However, he maintained that no fire safety norms violated by the building.
