Mumbai:
A flash mob of nearly 5000 college students danced at Mumbai's Girgaum Chowpatty to protest against and draw attention to female infanticide. The flash mob was organised by students of Wilson College. The theme of the flash mob was "Dance for a life".
The celebrity factor at the flash mob was actor Naghma. Speaking to reporters after the event the actress said, "I am very happy that I'm a part of this today because Wilson College is somewhere I started my first film shooting... and today they've invited me for a very good cause which is the female foeticide eradication. My NGO Jagruti is also working in this direction, so I'm very happy to be a part of this and come here and do this dance which is a dance for a very good cause, female foeticide eradication."
However, the event was not all smooth sailing. Just as the dance was about to begin the police arrived on the spot and told the students that the area was a 'silence zone'. So the flash mob took place without any music and the students danced as they clapped.
