Mumbai: The Maharashtra BJP marked the 'Kargil Vijay Diwas' in Mumbai on Thursday by unveiling a wax statue of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who was the Prime Minister at the time of Kargil war.
Party president Nitin Gadkari unveiled the statue, which would be put up at a wax museum in Lonavala.
Mr Gadkari said on this occasion that the entire country today missed the Vajpayee-led NDA government.
State BJP chief Sudhir Mungantiwar said Mr Vajpayee has a heart "softer than wax" and mind of a poet.
Senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde said Mr Vajpayee gave the country the best government since Independence.
Mr Gadkari said that Mr Vajpayee was not keeping well, but he met the former Prime Minister every fortnight, and would show him a photograph of the statue when they would meet next.
Sculptor Sunil Kandalloor, who made the statue, also expressed desire to make statues of Narendra Modi and LK Advani.
