Gang-raped 10-year-old succumbs at Mumbai hospital

Mumbai: A 10-year-old child died in the hospital on Tuesday evening, some 10 days after being raped multiple times by four teenagers.

The girl was taken to a secluded location by the accused, who promised to pay her Rs 10 if she performed a chore for them. The incident took place on June 16 in Hanuman Nagar, which is under the jurisdiction of Turbhe police station.

"The girl was taken to a secluded area on the pretext of having some work for which they would give her Rs 10 and raped her," said an officer from Turbhe police station.

After the incident the child went home and narrated her ordeal to her parents. Her parents immediately admitted her to a nearby hospital.

According to officials, the accused are in the 13-16 age group. Of the four accused, two are brothers. One of the four had raped her on a previous occasion.

An officer from Turbhe police station said, "All the accused knew each other as well as the victim. They raped her repeatedly. She was rushed to the hospital after her parents got to know of her plight but she lost her life on Tuesday."

The Turbhe police have lodged a case of rape and arrested all the four.
