Mumbai:
Highly decomposed bodies of a man and a woman have been recovered from a flat in suburban Andheri and it is suspected to be a case of suicide, police said today.
The bodies, which are yet to be identified, were recovered from a rented flat in PMGP Colony on Mahakali Caves Road in Andheri east, they said.
"After the neighbours alerted police about the foul smell coming from the flat last night, MIDC police arrived and forced the door open and recovered the bodies," a senior officer investigating the case said.
Prima-facie, it is a case of suicide. We are still investigating the case and trying to establish the identity of the deceased, the officer added.
"We have sent the bodies for post-mortem and are trying to find out if they had written any suicide note," the police officer said, adding the flat owner has been contacted.
"The bodies were severely decomposed. We are waiting for the autopsy report which will establish the reason behind the deaths," the officer added.
